Lithuanian Zoological Garden was founded by the renowned Lithuanian naturalist – Prof. Tadas Ivanauskas (1882-1970). When the Zoo was opened in 1938, its prime objective was to educate the visiting public about nature protection and to promote the conversation of endangered species. Lithuanian Zoological Gardens are continuing his work to this day. During Your visit, You can see over 2000 animals representing 200 species from around the world. From the tiniest bugs to the tallest giraffes. Many of them are endangered or being threatened with extinction as their natural habitats are being destroyed. It is the goal of the Lithuanian Zoological Garden to save endangered wild animals from extinction and protect their natural environment.
