Those of you lucky enough to have visited Kaunas in the past year could have noticed a few significant buildings highlighted in bright colours for various occasions, the most important of which was an event called ‘Kaunas in Colour’. The organisers of the festival of lights, a company called ‘Leggato’, have just announced it will be back on Nov 4-6th.
Last time, the St. Michael the Archangel Church (also known as the Garrison Church or simply Soboras), the War Museum and the Musical Theatre were among the selected buildings. The project was also back for special occasions, such as the Lithuanian olympic team winning the first medals (our Town Hall went yellow-green-red at that time).
In November, the focus will be on the interwar modern architecture. Two buildings will be highlighted, the first being the Central Post Office and the second being Pienocentras. Both of them have seen busier days, to be honest, so the lighting project will definitely be a nice boost. Come take pictures and don't forget to tag them #kaunastic!
